A NOT SO GREAT START
Earth...a peaceful planet full of human activity....at least it used to be. In the year 2015, an abnormal plague hit the blue planet with great force. It affected everyone differently....most died from the disease, while a lucky small handful of people managed to live and was given a new supernatural talent. Two years later, weird demented creatures started appearing around the globe. Some people suspect it to be humans who were either exposed to the disease in a negative way, or that their bodies just didnt want to accept the plague. This story here....is about that new world and the small handful that tried to make a difference within it.
*****************************************************************
Everything started out in the home of a family of four. Out of those four, only their oldest child survived. A girl by the name of Leah who was in her teen years had managed to take in the disease and live. Her gift from the illness had been the power to use element types of alchemy as well as a few regular types of alchemy. As for her mother, father, and younger brother.....they were the unfortunate ones and succumbed to the plague a mer twenty seconds after it was inside their bodies. Now Leah lived in the house by herself. She warded off any creatures that tried to demolish her home and trained herself for survival everyday. One day she knew that she would find someone else who had survived the awful ailment like she had......but was beginning to lose all hope for that after searching for two years. Right now she was laying on her bed staring up at the ceiling, thinking.
Maybe I havent found anyone because Im not venturing out far enough? thought Leah messing with the golden locket around her neck. She opened up the locket and stared at the picture inside of it with an emotionless expression. Sighing heavily she closed and dropped the locket. Sitting up now she looked out into the dark forest outside her window with the pale red sky overhead.
Alright, thought Leah, todays the day. Its finally time for me to move on with my life. With her mind made up Leah put on her shoes, got up, and walked toward the door. She carefully made her way down the broken staircase then exited the house. She took a few steps forward, stopped, then turned back to look at the ruined house. All the memories from living in that home swept over her entire body. She was paralyzed in the thousands of flashbacks that played inside her head. Shaking her head and clenching her fists tightly, Leah turned her back on the house and made her way toward the forest....never to return to her home ever again.
*****************************************************************
Instead of taking her normal route in the forest, Leah decided to try a different way this time to see if it would bring her more luck with coming into contact with someone. She walked into a small opening with large, thick trees ahead of her and bushes to her left and right. Leah moved on and kept her eyes straight ahead of her. All of a sudden a rustle came from the bushes behind her. Leah stopped walking and listened.
Show yourself, ordered Leah. I know youre out there. As a response to her order came a loud growl and a thump from her right. Leah slowly turned around to get a better look at her spy. It had a face similar to a dinosaurs skull, a muscled body, stood on all fours, and black torn up shorts with a skull belt. The creature was a dark shade of gray with red glowing dots for eyes. Leah clapped her hands and formed stone gauntlets over her steel ones. The monster growled at her and gave her a heart stopping stare. Leah shifted her body into her battle stance.
Come at me, said Leah. The monster roared before charging toward her. Leah sprinted, leaped high in the air, and brought her right fist up in the air. She aimed for the monsters head and as she fell toward it she brought down her hand to pile drive it into the ground. The monster looked straight at her and its eyes flashed for a second. Leahs body froze and she felt like she couldnt move. With one hand the monster slammed her into the ground. It picked up Leah by the collar of her top then threw her down on the ground again. Leah gaged as she felt the wind being knocked out of her. She winced up at the monster to see him howl toward the sky. Before Leah had time to realize what all was going on four large, clawed, boney hands shot up from the ground and grabbed her wrists and ankles. The monster took its chance and started beating her up repeatedly until Leah was a bruised and bloody mess.
....Why? thought Leah, ...why cant I defeat this guy? This should be simple....whats holding me back? Her opponent picked her up again and the hands that had her pinned down snapped at being pulled out of the ground and turned to dust. It threw her hard toward one of the largest trees in the area. Leah hit it hard then felt her left arm pinned to the tree by a set of spikes. She yelled in pain as it pierced through her flesh. Glancing with one open eye she saw that the creatures left hand had turned into something similar to a bear trap and was now inches away from her face. The monster roared in her face to let her know in its way that her end was near. Leah brought back her right fist. She was about to throw a sky uppercut at the monster when she felt something similar to a spear being struck through her right upper hip. It then jerked whatever it was that stabbed her slightly downward and Leah let out a blood curdling scream. Looking down she saw that the monsters right hand had also transformed. Her vision was beginning to blur and everything around her swayed. The monster pulled out its spear and held it high above its head. Right when it was about to bring it down upon her head a small missel hit the monsters hand. Letting out a deafening scream it hunched over in pain. A few seconds later a blue flamed wolf with yellow eyes tackled the monster and pulled it off of Leah. The wolf clamped onto the monsters neck and killed it with one bite from its sharp fangs. Woozily Leah stared at the wolf, wondering whether it would come at her next or not. She could hear a girls voice behind her but was too muffled up for her to understand. Not having the strength any longer to stand Leahs vision darkened and she fell unconscious to the ground.
